Darkness Suits You Best

The hidden nature of self

For all the light within you, darkness suits you best
Enter the season of death and decay
Lost love returns at your behest
Take her back — any given day
Your essence, hers
A dark swan, she makes you prey
She pours herself over you — body cradled, mind cooled
The warm white light of day — so exhausting, everything exposed
The night, diffused and malleable, you move about with ease
Why do you romanticize me?
Never mind — dim the lights, and I will make you a god
For all the light within you, darkness suits you best
